It’s the little things that make me happy or make my day. I cried last night on the couch after watching a funny episode of “The Office.” Not from the actual show- but from a phone call. My sweet brother called last night and simply said, “I am gonna come down tomorrow and visit with you tomorrow. I’ll pick up some lunch, too.” Now to understand why this made me cry you have to know that my emotions are crazy and also I so appreciate Andrew’s reaching out to me. Isn’t it funny how family can touch deep in your heart where no one else can reach? Last week, too, I had a phone call from one of my other brother’s, Luke, to see how I was doing. As soon as I heard his voice, I fought off the tears of just love for my family and appreciation for him just calling to check in on me. Even though we may not be the most affectionate or routinely communicatative, the love and support is always felt. Then there is my sis-in-laws…one of which sent us the most beautiful wreath I’ve ever seen. The other wanting to see her new nephew over the internet bought us a webcam so we can actually SEE all the cousins and not feel too far away. Next of course is my parents. My mom checking in on me each day and the prayers and hearing the answers to prayers- its crazy! I can’t even begin to go there. And my dad wanting to come out and visit little Ryker soon. Family- it’s the little things that show love to me.
So today, we get to spend a couple hours with Uncle Doodrew and have a little break of mundane-ness. I appreciate that. And it makes me happy. It’s the little things.
